About the Moot Court Competition

The moot court society of AURO UNIVERSITY, SURAT is proud to present to you the 5th AURO National Moot Court Competition on Criminal law to be held from 22nd – 24th February, 2019. Every year, the competition has witnessed an overwhelming response from various Universities and Colleges throughout India. The moot court problem is based on contemporary issues such as murder and rape in the context of the spiritual advisers who postulates a pick ‘n’ mix of vague spiritual platitudes dealing with the subject of bestiality and rape of women.

We have witnessed changes in the penal code based on the Indian technicalities and local peculiarities. Therefore the moot problem this year aims at addressing two substantial issues of criminal law i.e. the cruelty done to humans as well as animals and the applicability of section 377 of the Indian Penal Code therein.

The father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi once said, "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."Indians certainly are not treating animals like they should be, considering the fact that they are sentient beings, who feel pain and have emotions, just like humans do. People who commit acts of cruelty to animals often don't stop there many move on to hurting humans. The above problem has left questions in this bizarre world of all the influential baba’s who draw millions of loyal followers, crashing down to earth and once again leaving the country poised for violence on the streets and are lately saved with impunity. The problems for the competition are made to address the two of the above concerns.

AURO University has an aim to provide an opportunity to students to gear up for the cause and be prepared for the occasion when it arises. We look forward to welcome you to the city of diamonds in the year 2019 for the Rounds of the Competition, and hereby invite you to send a team from your institution for the same. With the previous experience we are charged up and are working towards providing you three days of quality mooting along with enjoyment, interaction and networking.
